Are they Compatible at all?
Before doing anything, we should determine if your graphics driver or your computer can actually support Miracast. Checking this is quite simple:
- Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key and R together.
- Type PowerShell and Enter.
- Type Get-netadapter|Select Name, ndiversion
- Enter this command.
- The return value should be more than 6.30. Otherwise, your Miracast is not compatible.
Following the same process, you can check your graphics card’s compatibility as well. In the dialog box that appears when you open Run, type dxdiag and Enter. This opens the DirectX Diagnostic page. Here, check the driver’s model. It should be WDDM 1.3x or better.
If everything is good, you can follow the fixes mentioned after this. If not, you will need to change your graphics card.
Check the Wi-Fi
Miracast uses Wi-Fi. This makes it very easy to use, but only when all devices are using the same network. To check this, open Network and Internet settings on your computer and see if the Wi-Fi is turned on. You should also see if the VPN is disabled because this may cause connectivity hindrance, as well.
Update the Miracast Driver

Get a Miracast adapter
In most cases, your problem of Miracast drivers in Windows 10 will be solved with a Miracast adapter. This is because, commonly, the device you are streaming to does not support Miracast. A good adapter will solve your problem. All you have to do is to use the HDMI port to connect, and you are sorted.
Downgrade your graphics driver
May be the newest version of your graphics driver does not support your Miracast. This is possible because many manufacturers are not providing Miracast support in their upgraded versions. Thus, the best thing to do would be to downgrade or roll back to the previous version. Follow the steps below to do this:
- Open the Run dialog box.
- Type devmgmt.msc and Enter.
- You will find Display Adapters in the results.
- Click on it.
- Go to the Drivers tab to find the Roll Back Driver option.
- Choose that and confirm if required. The graphics driver will go back to its previous version.
- Now, restart your computer and see if your problem is fixed.
